Governor Richardson Announces Let Me In Will Shoot in New Mexico
Contact: Pahl Shipley, NM Film Office (505) 476-5613Santa Fe-Governor Bill Richardson today announced that “Let Me In”, produced and financed by Hammer Films and distributed in the U.S. and Canada by Overture Films, will shoot in New Mexico. The film will shoot at Albuquerque Studios, as well as in the Albuquerque, Los Alamos, and Red River areas from November through January. The production is expected to hire approximately 620 New Mexicans- 120 crew and about 500 background talent and other cast members.
The film will be directed by Matt Reeves, who also wrote the screenplay. Based on the bestselling Swedish novel, “Lat den Ratte Komma In,” by Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist, “Let Me In” is a contemporary vampire tale about a young boy who befriends a girl new to his neighborhood. The film is a remake of the highly acclaimed Swedish film, “Lat den Ratte Komma In,” also known as, “Let the Right One In.” Kodi Smit-McPhee, Chloe Moretz and Oscar®-nominee Richard Jenkins will headline the cast of Let Me In. Director Reeves (“Cloverfield”) has cast Smit-McPhee (“The Road”) and Moretz (“(500) Days of Summer”) in the two lead child roles of Owen and Abby for the eagerly awaited feature. Jenkins will play the lead adult character known as Hakan in the original film. In addition to the box office hit “Cloverfield,” Reeves' directing credits include the comedy “The Pallbearer,” starring David Schwimmer and Gwyneth Paltrow, and the hit television show “Felicity,” starring Keri Russell, which he co-created and executive produced along with partner J.J. Abrams. Since Governor Richardson took office in 2003, 130 major film and television projects have been produced in New Mexico, with an estimated economic impact of approximately $3 billion. In the state there are an estimated 10,000 direct and indirect jobs related to the film industry, and over 200 local film-specific businesses and services.
