Santa Fe Film Festival Announces its Preview Nights in Albuquerque on Monday, November 17 And in Taos Tuesday, November 18

(Santa Fe, New Mexico) The Santa Fe Film Festival (SFFF) presents its annual preview nights Monday, November 17 in Albuquerque and Tuesday, November 18 in Taos.

The Nov. 17 Albuquerque event will be at 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm at the Guild Cinema, 3405 Central Avenue NE, and the Tuesday, November 18 screenings in Taos will be at 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm at the Trans-Lux Storyteller, 110 Old Talpa Canon Road.

Two films will be screened. Opening the program at 6:30 pm will be FLOWING GRASSES:THE LIFE OF DEAN HOWELL about the artist Dean Howell, a resident of El Dorado, New Mexico. It will be followed at 8:30 pm by TAOS, a feature film shot in Taos, New Mexico by Brandon Schmid.

The New Mexico Tourism Department is co-sponsoring the evenings, with additional underwriting for the Taos event provided by the Town of Taos. Scott Christopher, the producer of FLOWING GRASSES, will attend, along with Dean Howell. Brandon Schmid Director of the movie TAOS will be attending as well.

Tickets are $10 for one film or $15 for both, available at the door. Wine will be served between the two shows with a chance to meet the filmmakers and other special guests. Mayor Bobby Duran and/or representatives from his office will be present. Stephen Rubin, program director of the Santa Fe Film Festival, will be present at both evenings and SFFF Executive Director Jon Bowman will join him in Taos to introduce the event and discuss the coming 9th Annual Santa Fe Film Festival.

FLOWING GRASSES is a riveting and inventive documentary about Howell, an eccentric and inspiring artist. The film provides insight into Howell’s life, his passion and his feelings about art and the world in general. TAOS is unique and wild feature set and filmed in Taos. The drama tells the story of a young professional who recovers a lost sense of place and purpose when faced with the unexpected loss of his father and an accidental breakdown in the northern New Mexican desert. TAOS was written, directed and produced by Brandon Schmid through Taos Movie Productions LLC and Flying Spot Pictures.
